Drawings of otherworldly botanicals, sculptures and installations of strange objects that appear to be neither alive nor lifeless. I create collections of vegetable monstrosities and otherworldly specimens, exploring ideas around genetic manipulation and scientific experimentation, hybrid species and evolution.
I scrutinize our methods of organising the natural world and consider how these bizarre botanical hybrids may not fit into our current methods of Taxonomy. I present ideas of a precarious nature with specimens that elude classification and have no clear origins.
Approaching these specimens as if I am explorer encountering them for the first time, I carefully document them adopting the conventions of Botanical and Scientific illustration, thinking about the space between factual study and these fantastical creations.
How were these botanical hybrids formed?
